According to sources on Monday, Korean Air Lines dropped its refinancing scheme over the shopping mall in L.A. and instead entered discussions with lenders for rollover in the existing collateralized loans that mature in September.

The Korean full-service carrier took out a 490 billion won loan collateralized by the building that will mature later this month. It studied the option of a fresh collateralized bond obligation by pooling investment from Korean institutional investors worth 840 billion to refinance the loan and hoard the rest for working capital.
If Korea Air Lines can convince lenders on a rollover, it could defer sale of the building if conditions improve, sources said.
Korean Air Lines shares rose 1.7 percent to close at 17,950 won on Tuesday in Seoul trading.
